My resolution for the new year was to read more. At first the goal was 12 and then 18.
My first selection, 'Breathless' and 30 pages into my second, 'America's Constitution', made it clear why I and others should read more.
Wheelbarrow, really? Barrow from the Old English bearwe which was used for carrying loads. Wikipedia knows of the common mistake. I did not.
After only a book and some pages I've amassed a lengthy list of words I know nothing about; anathema, furtive,incredulity, ineffable, promulgated, polity, plenary, comity, cadre
brood, juridical, gyre
Should I have started down the resolution path with picture books or perhaps comic books?
How many more words or terms are out there that I've been getting wrong?
I don't care much about spelling and, marginally more about punctuation, but words is good.
